*New* We have just published a CD-ROM
which covers all aspects of vegetable growing at Allsun Farm.
Have a look at the trial version in our catalogue.
We are small scale farmers. By that we mean that we run a garden farm on a 40 hectare (100 acre) property near the village of Gundaroo in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales, Australia.
More than 75% of the farm is wooded and will always remain so.
We have 2 acres under intensive cultivation, 25 acres of unimproved native pasture grazed by half a dozen meat goats and 2 acres of improved pasture used for strip grazing by 150 laying hens.
We farm vegetables and free range poultry and market our produce directly to subscription customers and restaurants. The vegetables are seasonal with the exception of the gourmet saladini which is a small leafed salad mix produced year round - outside in the spring, summer and autumn and in polytunnels in deep winter. The farm/food connection and educating people about it is an abiding interest.
Eggs from our pastured poultry are available all year.
Our whole emphasis is on fresh, high quality produce and relationship marketing. The greatest influence on our operation has come from our friend Eliot Coleman who lives in Maine, USA and is the author of "The New Organic Grower".
Our vegetable and egg operation led us into the tool and equipment business. A lack of suitable tools for small scale growers was very clear at the onset and this convinced us that there was a market niche for the best quality tools and equipment.
Luckily we have a friend Peter Thorne who is an innovative production engineer and it is with his collaboration that we have developed and refined the Gundaroo Tiller broadfork. Peter is the inventor of the excellent, International Gold Medal winning brush cutting accessory, the WEEDWAKKA.
Besides the tools which are made in Gundaroo we import them from Switzerland, Korea, USA, Germany and the United Kingdom. In every case we only sell tools that we use on our own farm. We can give no better recommendation.
