1. Review of the state of the garden

This class was run 2 weeks after lesson 7. In the garden we had weeds well under control and everything was growing well. The quick growing lettuces were ready to harvest.

2. Pumpkin project

To keep some gardening momentum going into the summer and to encourage all the children to put what they have learnt, over the course of these lessons, into practice at home we decided to encourage the class to do some growing at home.

Each child was given 2 giant pumpkin seeds (Jumbo Banana) . We then talked about how they would go about growing them and suggested that the pumpkins they would harvest should come to school for a ‘viewing’ early in the new year.

3. Seedllngs

The seed that had been planted in lesson 7 were poking their heads through the potting mix and needed to be potted up. We moved outside to do this.
